Mary Celia Bruno, 84, of Old Forge, died Friday morning, Feb. 1, 2008, in Moses Taylor Hospital. Her husband, Angelo Bruno, died in 2002.
Born in Old Forge, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Carmella Lembo Embriaco, she was educated in the Old Forge School District. Prior to retirement, Mary worked in the area garment industry, specifically at LennieLee Dress Co., Sally Blouse Co., Rohr Lingerie Co. and Duchess Co. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Old Forge.
Mary was a wonderful dancer and was extremely family oriented. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important in her life. A sweet individual, she was warm-hearted even in her worst moments. She was also an exceptional baker and cook who enjoyed being a hostess to anyone who entered her home.
Surviving are two daughters, Dolores Gillow and husband Andrew, of Old Forge, and Carol Miele and husband Eugene, of Indian Mountain Lakes; a son, Samuel Bruno, of Jasper, GA; a brother, Louis Embriaco, of Forked River, NJ; six grandchildren, Tamara Cykosky, Andrew Gillow Jr., Marisa Miele, Kristen Miele Beatty, Shane Bruno and April Bruno; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Angela, Rebecca, Alexis, Michael, and Autumn; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Nicholas Embriaco; and a sister, Rose Erkenbeck, RN.
The funeral was Feb. 5 from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, Old Forge. A Mass of Christian Burial followed in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Old Forge. Interment, Old Forge Cemetery. For more information or to leave an online condolence, visit .
