Matilda L. Raven, of Swoyersville, formerly of Plains Township, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 10, 2008, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Helen Syskowski Henczel.
She moved to the Hudson section of Plains Township at an early age and was educated in the Plains Township schools.
She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College. She was employed by Maslow, Lumia & Bartorillo, Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of the Luzerne County Dental Auxiliary. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Walter P. Raven, who passed away in 1993; daughter Rita; brother Henry Henczel.
She is survived by her daughter Loretta Raven, of Swoyersville, with whom she resided; son Walter P. Raven Jr., of Dupont; granddaughter Erica Raven; sisters Helen Block, of Laflin, and Dolores Hydock, of Willow Grove.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 12 in SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
Arrangements are by the Michael J. Mikelski Funeral Home, 293 S. River St., Plains Township.
