The Wyoming Area Marching Band, under the direction of George Levandowski, will hold a special meeting on Thursday, June 19 at 6pm in the Secondary Center Cafeteria. The meeting is open to all current marching band members and their parents, along with all those interested in participating in marching band for the 2008-2009 season. There are currently openings for all instruments as well as colorguard positions and any student entering 7th grade or higher is eligible.
At the meeting, students and their parents will learn more about what is involved in participating in marching band and students will spend some time doing some basic marching drills. Mr. Levandowski encourages all students who are at all interested to please attend to find out more information. Summer practice schedules will be available at this time, and parents will have an opportunity to learn about the Music Sponsors organization, which is the parent support group for the Wyoming Area music department. Mr. Levandowski stated that the band will be participating in several Tournament of Band competitions throughout Pennsylvania this year and, as always will be on hand for all football games to support our team.
In addition, the band will travel to the elementary schools to conduct pep rallies, will perform at high school pep rallies, and may also travel to a music festival in another state in the spring of 2009. The Wyoming Area Marching Band is also slated to perform in several parades over the course of the next school year.
