Dominick A. Mandicott, 92, Laughlin, NV, died July 24, 2008 after a lengthy illness. His wife of nearly 71 years is the former Angeline Carbino Mandicott, formerly of Exeter.
Born May 11, 1916 in Pittston, he operated a shoemaker shop on Mill Street from 1934-1941. He then worked for 40 years at the Gotham Shoe Factory in Binghamton, NY. He is a decorated World War II Navy veteran, serving in England, Africa and was in the Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach. He served as President of the Sons of Italy, Holy Name Society and was a hospital volunteer for 18 years in Binghamton.
He is also survived by his daughter, Dr. Grace Mandicott Fountain, and her husband, Dr. Wendell V. Fountain, Laughlin, NV; a son Dominick A. Mandicott, Jr., Tampa, FL; a daughter-in-law, Anita Gayle Mandicott, Tampa, FL; a brother, Michail, his wife Peggy Mandicott, and their son, Michail Mandicott, Jr. of Mandicott Trucking, Pittston; a niece, Michele Pambianco and her husband, Bill, of The Pet Zone, Pittston; as well as other great-nieces and nephews of Pittston.
Services will be held Tuesday at noon from the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery of Boulder City, NV with military honors. Arrangements by the Desert Lawn Funeral Home of Mohave Valley, AZ. Please send cards in lieu of flowers to 1280 Country Club Dr., Desert Springs, Laughlin, NV 89029.
