Albert J. Austin

Albert J. Austin, of Tunkhannock, a guest of Wesley Village of Jenkins Township, died February 4, 2008 in the Wesley Village nursing center.
He was born in Plymouth, on February 19, 1914, son of the late Charles J. and Mary Warnigaris Austin.
He was a graduate of Pittston High School, class of 1931, and an Army veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of the Austin Manor in Tunkhannock. He was a member of The Church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock and its Holy Name Society.
He was an avid walker and enjoyed fishing on the Susquehanna River and other area ponds and streams in Wyoming County. He was a member of the Frear Hill Beagle Club and enjoyed bowling in several local leagues.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Austin. Surviving are nephews Paul Austin, of Avoca, Charles Austin, of Jupiter, FL, Robert Austin, of Estacada, OR; and several great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was held February 9 at the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. Interment, Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Arrangements are by the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.
