John M. Cebula Sr., 76, of Hughestown, died July 26, 2008 at his home.
Born in Dupont on July 30, 1931, he was a son of the late Stanley and Helen (Karkut) Cebula. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Hughestown, and a graduate of Dupont High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Trane Company, Dunmore. He was a member of Dupont Polish Club, the VFW Post 1227, Duryea, and the Triple B Hunting Club, Downsville, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Theresa (Orleski) Cebula; sons, Michael and his wife, Nancy, Bear Creek; John, Dupont; James, Duryea; Joseph and his wife, Tracy, Falls; and Stanley and his wife, Heather, Hughestown; daughters, Helen and her husband, Dave Donovan, Hughestown; and Lori and her husband, Stanley Stempien, Duryea; brother Andrew, Avoca; sisters, Mary Koytek, Taylor, and Rosalie Dudeck, Plains Township. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were July 30 from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Duryea, with Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, Hughestown. Interment, Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
