John R. Kosick Sr., 78 , of Exeter passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, surrounded by his family.
Born on July 24, 1929, he was a son of the late George and Anna Danko Kosick.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter, and was a 1948 graduate of Exeter High School, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball.
John was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, in which he attained the rank of staff sergeant.
He worked as a welder for Kingston Metal and as a supervisor at the former Star Garment, Exeter. Prior to retiring, he worked on the custodial staff for Wyoming Area School District and then part-time at the Emanon Country Club, Falls.
His hobbies included gardening, golfing, playing cards with his friends and trips to Atlantic City. John was a huge fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants.
He was active in Exeter Lions Little League, having coached the Little League , Exeter Teeners and the Greater Pittston Softball teams.
He will be sadly missed by relatives and friends who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John will join his sons Kurt and Jack Kosick in heaven and a sister, Eleanor Ryzner.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former, Miranda Peverelli, and daughter, Kim and her husband, Bill Mattioli, Kingston; son Cliff and his wife, Sandy Kosick, Exeter, and daughter-in-law Robin Kosick, Exeter; three grandsons, Adam, Cliff Jr. and Kurt Kosick; sister Marge Yablonski, Bradenton, Fla.; one niece and several nephews.
Funeral was Feb. 23 from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Memorial Avenue, Exeter, with the Reverend Joseph Sibilano, O.S.J., pastor, officiating.
