Catherine R. Vasil, 92, Exeter, died July 8, 2008, at the Highland Manor Nursing Home, Exeter.
Born in Plains, she was a daughter of the late Steven and Mary Shedlock Kunec. She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Slovak Church, Pittston, and its Altar and Rosary Society, and recently a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter. Catherine worked in the garment industry as a floor lady for Leslie Fay and Star Garment, Exeter, prior to her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Vasil, in 1990; brothers Michael, Steven and Joseph Kunec; and sister Helen Nalewajko.
Surviving are her daughters, Millie Vasil and Kate DeAngelo, both of Exeter; and a son, Thomas Vasil, Huntington Beach, Calif.; grandchildren Nick DeAngelo, Mark DeAngelo and Maria Mattioli; seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Emily Latsko, Plains; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were July 11 from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, Exeter, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter. Interment, St. John the Baptist Slovak Cemetery, Exeter.
