Mildred Silveri, of Plains Township, passed away February 9, 2008 at the Heritage House, Hospice Care of the VNA Inpatient Unit, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Holodick Saraka. She was educated in the Wilkes-Barre area schools and was a graduate of Coughlin High School. She was employed for many years in the local garment industry. She was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Thomas Saraka; sister, Irene Spilman; and infant brother, Michael. She is survived by her husband, Edmund (Pat), with whom she would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on April 16, 2008.
In addition to her husband, Edmund, she is survived by a daughter, Karen Ragantesi and her husband, Bill, of Wyoming; son, Edmund (Sonny) Silveri and his wife, Sue, of Mountain Top; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Lisoski and her husband, Edward, of South River, N.J.; Winifred Pugh, of Wilkes-Barre; Diana Biniek and her husband, Paul, of Carlisle; Helen Pugh and her husband, John, of the Lee Park section of Hanover Township; and Sharon Ashton and her husband, Perry, of Harding; brothers, John and Norman Saraka, both of Wilkes-Barre; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces; and great-nephews.
Funeral services were Feb. 13 from the Michael J. Mikelski Funeral Home, 293 S. River St., Plains. Services were held at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 667 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with Pastor Gary Scharrer officiating. Interment, Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.
