Pittston Area outscored the Crusaders 15-8 in the third quarter to break a 14-14 tie at halftime to fuel a 44-40 win at Pittston Area on Thursday.
Regina Linskey led the Patriots with 14 points and Renee Fumanti added 13 and Lauren Smicherko scored 12 as the LPs got back into division games after the break.
With the win the LPs start 2-0 in Division I
The Lady Warriors played the Grenadiers tough on Thursday in Wilkes-Barre in the Division II opener for both teams. The LWs shaved six off a 12-point halftime deficit. Elyse Laneski was hot with a team-high 17. Allie Scalzo scored 11, Sarah Maheady and Kylie Sheplock nine, and Sarah Zielinski five.
For GAR Lydia Naperkowski made five shots from behind the arc on her way to a game-high 20.
