Clayton J. Hollenback, 90, a resident of Wesley Village, died December 1, 2008. His wife of 34 years is the former Beverly Perry.
Born in Duryea, he was a son of the late Archiebald and Phebe Brown Hollenback. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
He served in Rhineland and Central Europe and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal. He then went on to business school and was employed by the Ford Company for 25 years as a millwright.
He was a member of the Independent Bible Church of Duryea.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Grubb; two sisters, Geraldine Smith and Mary Hollenback; and a brother, Archie Hollenback.
Surviving are daughters Mary Hradek, Ohio; Jean Bruno, Norristown; Geraldine Machnicki, Ohio; sons Jeffrey Hollenback, Milesburg; David Hollenback, Belfonte; sister Betty Wright, Muncy; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Dec. 6 from the Leonard Funeral Home, Pittston, with Dr. Albert Cremard, Pastor of Independent Bible Church of Duryea, officiating. Interment with Military Honors in Marcy Cemetery.
