Idamay Bath Umbauer, 88, died Sept. 18, 2008 at Manor Care Health Services, Kingston.
She was born July 29, 1920 in Pittston, to the late Benjamin and Charlotte Ann Davis Lynch Bath, and was educated in Pittston schools, until the Great Depression forced her to sacrifice her formal education. As a young woman, she worked in the local garment industry, and after marrying her husband, the late William Henry Umbauer, in 1947, she dedicated her life to parenting and homemaking. They were the proud parents of sons, the late Edward George Bath Sr., who passed away in 2005.
She was active in numerous church functions and served as Deaconess and choir member during at Luzerne Avenue Baptist Church, West Pittston. She was an avid scholar of the Bible and was a talented writer.
She is survived by sons, William Benjamin and John Robert Umbauer; and daughter, Charlotte Maria Umbauer all of West Pittston.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Lynch Evans; brothers, Benjamin and Robert Bath.
Funeral services were held Sept. 20, at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, West Pittston. The Rev. James Breese, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Pittston, officiated. Interment, Pittston Cemetery.
