When Stephanie Jallen decided to donate the money she had been saving for a computer to put on a breakfast for a local man severely injured in a motorcycle accident, little did she know how successful her idea would be. On Sunday, Jan. 27, more than 300 breakfasts were served at the Moose Lodge in West Pittston with more than $4,100 being collected to benefit Frank Castellino.
Castellino nearly died in an accident on Exeter Avenue in October. He was on his way to the Moose Lodge when the accident occurred.
Castellino belongs to the Wyoming Valley Motorcycle Club which once ran a benefit for Stephanie, who has only one leg and a malformed arm due to a birth defect. Despite her physical limitations, Stephanie is an accomplished downhill skier and hopes to make the U.S. Paralympic team. For that she needs funds, and Castellino and his motorcycle buddies were there to help.
Because Castellino had helped her, Stephanie wanted to help him. Hence, the breakfast.
Last week, Stephanie presented Castellino with a check for $4,120.
