The Reverend Kenneth R. Letner, 56, Mifflintown, died September 4, 2008 at his home. His wife of 34 years, Linda K. (Chubb) Letner, whom he married on, May 18, 1974, survives.
Born September 22, 1951 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Aloysius and Ruth (Evans) Letner. A graduate of Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre in 1969, he went on to graduate from Messiah College, Grantham in 1973, and later earned his Masters of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary in 1978.
He was a member of the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown and had served as its Pastor for 11 years. He served as the Director of the Board for Congregational Life and as an Associate Pastor of the Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church. For the last six years, he held the position of Bishop, for the Susquehanna Conference of the Brethren in Christ Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Darl Franklin.
He is also survived by three sons, Kyle D. Letner and his wife, Dawn, of Dillsburg, Kurtis A. Letner and his wife, Megan, of Wadsworth, Ohio, James M. Letner, of Mifflintown; a sister, Susanne Cooper, of Wyoming; a brother-in-law, Charles Franklin, of Wilkes-Barre; three grandchildren, Makayla, Natalie and Logan Letner; two nieces, Wendy and Cindy Franklin, and one nephew, Corey Cooper.
Graveside services are private. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Grantham Brethren in Christ Church, Grantham. Interment, Grantham Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown.
