Two Korean War MIAs remembered in Dupont

A memorial service was conducted last Sunday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Cemetery, Dupont for U.S. Army MIA/KIA soldiers of the Korean War. Honored were Sgt. First Class Edward Joseph Barnak and Sgt. Bernard Frank Bryk, both Dupont natives.
SFC Barnak served in Company A, First Battalion, 17th Infantry Division, 7th Infantry Division. He was wounded near Chech-on-ni, South Korea, on Feb. 10, 1951. He was listed as Missing-in-Action while fighting the enemy at Hill 675, 15 miles east of Wonju, South Korea on February 19, 1951. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.
Sgt Bryk was a member of Company K, Third Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing-in-Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea at Reservoir Chosen on December 12, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.
