The Veterans of Foreign War, VFW, of Avoca, Post 8335 will hold their annual chicken barbecue on Saturday, August 16. This event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the post . The dinner includes half of chicken, baked potato, ear of corn, cole slaw, roll, dessert and coffee, for $9 per person. The event starts at noon and ends at 6 p.m. The V.F.W. is at 915 Main Street.
