Students attending the Sarah Dymond School along with their parents/chaperones took school buses to Knoebels Park on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. The weather cooperated and everyone had a fun time.
Approximately 210 kindergarten through fifth grade students released painted lady butterflies on Wednesday June 4 at 2:00 p.m. The painted lady butterflies arrive as caterpillars. Students make houses for them and watch the metamorphous in their rooms. The students will learn the stages from larva to chrysalis to adult. Then emerge butterflies are released into the garden at Sarah Dymond Elementary School. This project aids knowledge and appreciation for the students as they make every day Earth Day.
Mrs. Lisa Hogan first grade teacher organized this project with the cooperation of all the teachers at the school. Each grade learned a butterfly song that they sang as the butterflies were released.
The Junior Deputy Graduation ceremony will be held in the multi-purpose room of the Sarah Dymond School on June 9, at 9:30 a.m. This prestigious ceremony serves as the culmination activity to honor the hard work, diligence, and dedication the fourth grade classes have demonstrated in committing to a life of making smart decisions and becoming productive citizens in our society. Mr. Robert Kaluzavich will introduce Deputy Erin Joyce who was the instructor over the past weeks. Sheriff Michael A. Savokinas will award the students their certificates, pledges and backpacks.
Kindergarten graduation will be held on Wednesday June 11 at 10:30 a.m. in the multi-purpose room of the school. Thirty-seven children will receive their diplomas from the principal, Mr. Robert Kaluzavich. Mrs. Ann Wasko with the cooperation of the kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Bitters and Mrs. Kachmarsky, along with their aids, Mrs. Dructor and Mrs. Argonis, rehearsed several graduation songs that the students sang at the ceremony.
Wednesday June 11 is the last day of school for the 2007-2008 school year. Students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. The faculty would like to thank the PTO and all the parents for their cooperation this year and wish everyone a happy and safe summer.
