Mrs. Mary B. Frederick, 78, a resident of the Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Wynnwood, died July 19, 2008 in the Hospice Unit of the Heritage House.
Born in Duryea, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Sophie Brzenski Szymanski and the stepdaughter of the late Amelia Piona. She was a graduate of Pittston High School and the Wilkes-Barre Business School. She was formerly employed as a travel agent for the U.S. Government CIA, Washington, D.C. She was formerly employed by Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, as an administrative assistant and retired from Lankenau Hospital, Philadelphia, where she worked as an administrative assistant.
She resided in Wilkes-Barre for the past 3 ½ years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Frederick, who passed away November 3, 1995.
Surviving are daughter Carol Pollack and her spouse, Robin, of Arlington, Mass.; granddaughter Maya Pollack, of Arlington, Mass.; sister Bernadine Skurla, of Lakewood, N.J.; nieces Michele Casterlin and Linda Sulcoski; nephew Michael Skurla.
Funeral was July 22 from the Piontek Funeral Home, Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea. Interment, parish cemetery, Duryea.
