Jean Minelli, 97, a resident of Scranton Health Care Center, formerly of Old Forge, passed away Wednesday evening, January 9, 2008, at the center. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Minelli, who died December 1, 2001.
Born in Old Forge, on October 9, 1910, Jean was a daughter of the late Joseph and Eugenia Astolfi Grandoni.
She was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1928, and Lackawanna Business College, Class of 1930, where she received first honors at both schools.
Prior to her retirement, she was the business manager for General Testing Laboratories, Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Old Forge.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Hiller; an infant brother, Gino; sisters Patricia Grandoni, Ada Greco, and Gladys Glevick.
She is survived by her two daughters, Anita Salerno, of Old Forge, and Phyllis Stahler, of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Christopher Salerno, Alissa and Jonathan Stahler.
Jean and her late husband raised two nieces, Evelyn Notari, of California, and the late Marie Kane, and a nephew, Alfonso Passeri, of Florida.
Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14 from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, corner of West Grace and Lawrence Streets, Old Forge. Interment will follow in the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea. Public viewing will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
