The Wyoming Area Guidance Department will present Information Night for Juniors on Tuesday, April 29, from 7-8 p.m.in the Wyoming Area High School library
This will be an important information night for high school juniors and the parents of those juniors who are planning to apply to college beginning this summer and next school year.
Some focus will be on competitive schools (Cornell, Lehigh, Lafayette, Bucknell, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Service Academies, etc.) Most of these schools require the SAT Subject tests which are different from the regular SAT test students are used to taking.
Any other schools parents/students want to discuss will be addressed.
An SAT time line will be given.
The guidance department will have some sample applications available and will review them. Counselors will discuss the common application and the need to take the Subject Tests in June and again next year for certain colleges.
Counselors will also discuss other important things that you and your child should know as you begin the final stages of the college application process such as when to take the SAT tests, the college visit.
Financial aid will be touched upon briefly.
Students and parents are urged by the Guidance Department to try to download the college applications your child is planning to apply to and bring those copies with. Please bring a pencil or pen with you that night.
Any junior and his/her parents who live in the Wyoming Area school district are welcome to attend this meeting.
