George R. Gulla, 72, of Pittston, died July 28, 2008, in Hospice of the VNA at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Swoyersville on January 22, 1936, he was a son of the late Mary Hliboky Gulla and Andrew Gulla Sr. He attended Swoyersville schools. He began working with Sordoni Construction and retired from PP&L as a lineman. He was a member of IBEW, a founding member of the Pittston Jr. Jets, a founding member of Cub Scout Pac 345 and a member of the Pittston Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith A. Gulla, on May 8, 2008. They would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on
July 30, 2008.
Also preceding him in death was a grandson, Christian Gulla; sister Anna Rutsky; brothers Dan Gulla, John Gula and Andrew Gula.
Surviving are sons Gregory, Plains; George, West Pittston; Mark, Avoca; Michael, Pittston; daughter Kimberly, Pittston; nine grandchildren; sisters Mary Matucik, Swoyersville; Betty Parris, Elgin, Ill.; Helen Kaskus, Tunkhannock; Emma Herensky, Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was July 31 from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, West Pittston, with religious service in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment, Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
