Joseph James Ferack, 80, of Avoca, died May 28, 2008, at Geisinger of Wyoming Valley Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on March 19, 1928, in Wyoming, he was a son of the late Jacob J. and Helen M. (Sleboda) Ferack. Joseph served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed as a truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local 229, working for Consolidated Freight until retiring in January 1996. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Theresa (Richel) Ferack; daughters Deborah and husband Ronald Lieback, Avoca, Theresa and husband, Michael Nidoh, Clarks Summit; sons, Joseph and wife, Deborah, of Avoca, Raymond and wife, Annie of Pittston, John and Wife, Michaelene, Avoca, Paul and companion Theresa Petroski, Pittston; 13 grandchildren, Debra, Jennifer, Ronnie, Amanda, Tracy, Ray, Camille, Amy, John, Kelley, Laura, Jessica, Michael; five great-grandchildren, Sierra, Gino, Ethan, Olivia, Hanna; brothers Jack and Valentino, of Detroit, Mich.
Mass of Christian Burial was held May 30 at SS Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. Arrangements by David J. Boyko F.D.
