NEPA/Abington Wildcats Fastpitch travel softball organization will be hosting 16U and 18U tryouts for their fall 2013 and summer 2014 teams. The teams will be attending several college showcases. The Duryea Little League will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. today, Aug. 18, at the Duryea Little League field. All coaches interested in coaching a fall ball team are urged to attend.

The Wyoming Area Swim Parents Association will meet on Monday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Sabatini’s Pizza in Exeter. All parents of WA Swim and Dive Team members are encouraged to attend.

TEAM TRYOUTS

Tryouts for the Pittston Area golf team will be held at 7 a.m. at Fox Hill Country Club on Aug. 12-18. Proper attire is required. All players must have taken a fall sports physical to be eligible. PIAA forms can be picked up at the high school main office. All forms must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian.

HOOPS4ME CAMP

Mark Casper HOOPS4ME Camp, a fun, educational course on the fundamentals of basketball will be held the Wyoming Area Catholic gym, Wyoming Ave, Exeter from Aug. 19-23. Boys grades 3, 4, 5 from 9 a.m. to noon; Boys grades 6, 7, 8 from 1-4 p.m.

Cost is $65 per player or $55 per player with more than one player per family. Along with the teaching of FUNdamentals, there will be some 3-on-3 competitions, some 5-on-5, foul shooting contests, our famous skills obstacle course and more. Full payment must accompany application. Players receive a free t-shirt and prizes will be awarded.

Wyoming Area Girls Soccer parents will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Meet at the secondary center gym entrance. Events for the upcoming season will be finalized.

RAILRIDERS NITE

Duryea Little League will have its family night on Friday, Aug. 23 at PNC Park to see a RailRiders game. All boys and girls who were players in our league are free. Parents and siblings are a cost of $8.

Reservations can be made by calling 655-0203. Last day to accept reservations is August 8. Duryea Little League will be having a fundraiser at Yogurt in Love, in the Pittston Plaza near Kmart, on Thursday, August 1 from 6-9 p.m.

The next Booster Club Meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Cefalo Center. GOLF TOURNEY

The Avoca AOH will hold it’s annual golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 8 a.m. at Pine Hills Country Club in Taylor. Format is captain and mate.

GOLF TOURNEY

The Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick will be hosting their annual Black Shamrock Open on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Course. The format of the tournament is Captain and Crew and entry fee is $75 per golfer. The event will kick off with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start.

There will be refreshments at the course, and a buffet meal following the tournament at the golf course. Anyone that would like to register to participate or is interested in more information please contact Jimmy Clancy at 881-4176 or any active member of the G.P. Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. Registration should be completed as soon as possible.

The Tournament committee meets every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus in Pittston.

Sponsorships are also available at several different levels. If you or your business would like to be a sponsor please be sure to contact Clancy at the number listed above. Friendly Sons member Bob Calpin will be on hand with golf tips at the start of the tournament.

Last year the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick awarded scholarships to two students totaling $5,000 and the proceeds from this event will benefit the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Scholarship Program.

The Emanon Day for Autism Golf tournament will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 at Emanon Country Club in Falls. The tournament benefits S.A.F.E. (Supporting Autism and Families Everywhere). GOLF OUTING

The Holy Rosary school is looking for golfers for its Fifth Annual Holy Rosary Golf Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Pine Hills Country Club in Taylor. The tournament is captain and crew format with lunch and dinner included. Registration is at noon and the shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. Cost is $90 per golfer or $360 for a foursome which includes a tee sponsor.

GOLF OUTING

St. Monica Parish Golf Outing, Benefiting Projects of the Parish Men’s and Women’s Groups, will be held Sunday, Sept. 15 at Four Seasons Golf Club, Exeter.

Registration is at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $50 per person or $200 per foursome which includes, dinner catered by Villa Foglia following event plus beer, soda and water. Golf limited to the first 120 golfers. Registration due before Sept. 5.
