The Cherry Blossom Festival committee selected Jessica Martin, 17, a Wyoming Area senior from West Pittston, as the second festival scholarship winner.

Martin gets $500 from the committee. “I’m very happy. It helps an awful lot and I really appreciate it,” she said.

Martin will use the money when she attends Marywood University in the fall to study graphic design. At Wyoming Area, she plays the marimba in the band and is a member of the SADD and the History Clubs.

She likes local history, including West Pittston history. “I find it very interesting,” she said.

Martin is the daughter of Edward and Diane Martin. She has a younger brother, Matthew.
