The Avoca/Dupont Little League opening day is on Saturday, April 13 beginning at noon at the upper Avoca Little League complex on Stanley M. Swanek Memorial Field. Teams will play a one inning exhibition. Player and team pictures will be taken during the day by Montage Photography. A bake sale and basket raffle as well as the refreshment stand will run throughout the day. Donations for the bake sale would be greatly appreciated and volunteers are needed throughout the day to help work in the stand and at the bake sale and basket raffle.
Teams this year are: Tee-Ball-American Legion Post 607, J&M Auto Body, Odak Corp., and GC Sweats; Coach Pitch-Craft Oil and P.A.C.C.; Minor Baseball-Avoca Lions Club and Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home; Major Baseball-Avoca VFW and Dupont VFW; Junior Baseball-Modern Gas; and Senior Baseball-Casey Kassa.
Dupont Softball/Teeball
Dupont Softball/Teeball kicks off its season with Opening Day on Sunday, April 14. Opening ceremonies start at 1 p.m., with a surprise special guest, followed by one inning exhibitions by some of the teams. This year the league has 15 teams from teeball to 17u softball. Parking and seating are limited. Carpooling and lawn/camp chairs are suggested. There will be no parking in the Polish Club lots on Opening Day.
West Pittston
West Pittston Little League’s Opening Day is Saturday, April 27 at noon. All teams will be participating.
Players are asked to arrive no later than 11:45 am.
Pittston City
Pittston City Little League’s opening day is scheduled for Saturday April 20. Ceremonies will include a parade from the Tomato Festival lot to the Little League field.
Players and coaches are asked to assemble at the Pittston City Fire Station/Tomato Festival grounds by no later than 9:45 a,m,. The parade will begin at 10 am.. Ceremony and senior presentations will follow. Covered dishes and baked goods are appreciated. Games will begin at 1 p.m.
