Wyoming Valley Harmony Chorus earns first place

The Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony Chorus took first place in the Northern Division Plateau AA at the Barbershop Harmony Society Mid-Atlantic District competition in Cherry Hills, N.J.

The chorus competed in a combined Atlantic and Northern Division of the Mid-Atlantic District, which features 24 choruses and 45 quartets covering Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Delaware.

Chorus members include Jim Morpeth, Wilkes-Barre; Ralph Gillespie, Wilkes-Barre; Joe Husty, Wilkes-Barre; Brian Clark, Wilkes-Barre; Justin Shaffern, Kingston; Scott Stiles, Kingston, Frank McCabe, Kingston; Tom Roberts, Kingston; Joe Dabbieri, Avoca; Dave Ehrensperger, Nanticoke; Bob Dingman, Dallas; Lou Volpetti, Pittston; Drew Smith, West Pittston, Dave Tosh, West Pittston; FrankTunney, Scranton; Bill Zdancewicz, Edwardsville.

“Sounds Abound Quartet” of the local chapter placed 18th in the quartet competition. Members include tenor Jim Morepth, lead Joe Husty, baritone Drew Smith and bass Tom Roberts.
