Full Gospel Chapel of Avoca is sponsoring a St. Pauly Textile, Inc. used clothing shed in the church parking lot. Community members donate clothing by placing it in the shed. Receipts for tax deductions are stored in a mailbox on the shed. The clothing donations are distributed in the US and internationally. St. Pauly’s then gives funding in return for clothing collected in the shed. Be sure to donate good usable clothing.

Re-registration letters and forms have been mailed to the parents of all those children enrolled in last year’s Religious Education Program. We ask that you complete the necessary paperwork and return the forms to the parish office by Aug. 15. Registration packets for those children who will be new to the program can be found at the back of the church or may be accessed online at the parish webpage. We remind parents that Sacramental Preparation Programs are two years. Those children planning on receiving First Holy Communion must have been enrolled in Religious Education or attending a Catholic school during the 2012-2013 school year. This week’s masses: Monday through Friday at 7 a.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Weekday masses are celebrated at the Sacred Heart Chapel at the cemetary.

The annual parish picnic will be held Aug. 1, 2 and 3 on the parish grounds. Donations of non-perishable food items and paper products are being sought for the Food Basket Stand. Donations may be left on the rear porch of the rectory. Anyone wishing to donate a theme basket or items for a theme basket is asked to contact Ann Marie Paddock at 654-0897 or the rectory at 654-3713.

The rectory office will close at noon from Monday through Wednesday, July 29-31. The office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 1-2.

T-shirts will be available in the church lobby this weekend with a special proclamation emblazoned on them. Cost is $10 in sizes S, M, L, XL.
