Mrs. Lydia Mae Yuhas, 73, of Duryea, passed away Thursday morning, July 25, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late David and Bertha Osmolia Howell. She attended Newton Ransom High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the former Topps Chewing Gum Co., Duryea and the former Panel Prints, Old Forge.

Lydia was avid bingo player who loved to play bingo throughout the area, especially at Germania Hose Company, Duryea with her dear friend Lois. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends and watching the Yankees baseball games.

She was a member of the West Side Senior Center, Scranton.

She was a loving mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, mother in law, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Andrew V. Yuhas, who passed away on March 11, 1991 and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by son Michael Yuhas of Olyphant; daughter, Lisa Piro and her husband, Michael, of Duryea; daughter, Donna Harriger and her husband, Robert, of Crestline, Ohio;; daughter, Dorothy Taylor and her husband, Paul, of Old Forge; son David Yuhas and his wife, Shirley, of Duryea; stepdaughter, Joyce Ann Kilgore and her husband, Jerry, of Ohio; stepson, Richard Yuhas of Florida; stepson, William Yuhas of Scranton; stepson, Andrew Yuhas of Wilkes-Barre; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Howells and his wife, Audrey of Moosic; sister, Sally Kurtz of Scranton; sister, Dora DiGregorio of Scranton; sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Eisenhart of Scranton; brother-in-law, Warren Speck of Pittston; man nieces and nephews; her faithful and loving companion, Bandit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with services by the Rev. Joseph LaCava of the Independent Bible Church, Duryea. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Duryea.

Family and friends may call today, Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
