Holy Rosary School on Stephenson Street, Duryea, announces the following:

»World Read Aloud Day was celebrated this week with great fun and unique activities. Hopefully you caught us on WBRE and saw the creativity and enthusiasm of our students as they celebrated their love of reading.

»Race for Education

Please be sure to return your child/ren’s completed labels for the Race for Education. Labels are due tomorrow, Monday, March 11. Donations of first class U.S. postage stamps to help defray the cost of RFE mailers would be extremely appreciated. Keep in mind that each class where 100% of the students have returned their completed labels with an average of 10 names per student by Monday, March 11, will receive an ice cream party.

Volunteers are still needed for writing mailers on March 18, 19 and 20. Volunteers are also needed to tape and stamp mailers on March 21 and 22. Record keepers are needed from April 4 through May 10 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings to tabulate donations. Additionally, approximately 50 volunteers are needed to run the race safely and efficiently.

»Ident-a-Kid

Photos will be taken on Monday, March 11 for Ident-A-Kid. Please be sure to send the order form and payment in with your child/ren.

»Gertrude Hawk candy order pick up

Tuesday, March 12 is the day to pick up your Gertrude Hawk Easter candy order.

»Early dismissal on Wednesday, March 13

There will be an early dismissal on Wednesday, March 13 with students being dismissed at 11 a.m.

»Pi Day

Our sixth -rade class is very excited to participate in Pi Day on March 14 at Holy Redeemer High School. Our students are looking forward to spending the day with students from other Catholic Schools in the area, doing creative Pi activities and specially designed programs, all celebrating the joy of math and fun of 3.14. Congratulations to Grace Berlew for having her t-shirt design elected for the Holy Rosary School Pi Day t-shirt.

»Father/daughter dance

The father/daughter dance will be held on Friday, April 12. Last year we had 175 girls and their special “dates.” Professional photographs will be offered for a reasonable fee, and music and fun provided by DJ Charlie Hayes.

»Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross will be held from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. on Friday, March 15 at Holy Rosary Church.

»Gift certificate news

Vouchers sales will be sold in Holy Rosary Church Hall from 8 to 10 a.m. every Thursday. School families may send in orders on Wednesday to be filled on Thursday
