The Wyoming Area field hockey team will host Abington Heights at the 2013 Breast Cancer Awareness Game at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Profits from the bake sale and basket raffle will be donated to Susan G. Jimenez for the Cure and the American Cancer Society. Come out and show your support.

The Pittston Area Cheerleaders will be holding a Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar from 8-10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6. Applebee’s is located at 253 Wilkes Barre Township Boulevard near Wegman’s. The cheerleaders will be serving pancakes and drinks as well as entertaining. Tickets can be purchased from any cheerleader or booster club member in advance or at the door. Tickets are $8 per person or $6 for children under 10.

The Pittston Area Cheerleading Booster Club will be holding an adults-only party after the Oct. 4 Homecoming game at the Red Mill. There will be 50/50 drawings and raffle baskets.

RED DEVILS

The Pittston Red Devils Sportsmen’s Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Dr. Nick Ruggerio’s home. On the agenda will be all summer events, along with upcoming fall and winter events.

GOLF OUTING

The Wyoming Area boys basketball team is hosting its third annual golf outing on Sunday, Oct. 5 at Four Season’s Golf Course in Exeter.

The format is Captain and Crew and features a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $75 per player, or $300 per foursome and includes greens fees, carts, refreshments, BBQ dinner and prizes. All proceeds benefit the Wyoming Area basketball program.

Hole sponsorships are available for $100, $50 and $25. For more information, contact coach Al Brogna at 570-650-6385, Erin Brogna at 570-332-7832 or Doreen Zezza at 570-881-4448. Make checks payable to Wyoming Area Boys Basketball Parents’ Assoc. Money must be paid by Oct. 4.

WRESTLING

Wyoming Area Elementary Wrestling will have sign-ups for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade outside the gym at the secondary center Wednesday, Oct. 2, Thursday, Oct. 10 and Wednesday, Oct. 16. Wrestlers must be a resident of the Wyoming Area school district. Wrestlers must also provide a copy of their birth certificate and a proof of residency.

‘78 WARRIORS

On Nov. 1, the 35th anniversary of the 10-1 Wyoming Area Football Warriors will be celebrated in conjunction with Ring of Pride Weekend. Each year several former greats are inducted into our Ring of Pride. This year’s class is Ed Labatch, Dan Gercak, Roger Orlandini and Joe Bartell.

This celebration is for all 1978 team members (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores and Coaches). In the previous three years we honored the 1970 team, the 1971 team and the 1992 team.
