The 47th annual Exeter Golf tournament will be held Sunday, Aug. 18 at Emanon Country Club.

Tee times will be taked from 11 a.m. throughout the afternoon. The cost is $75 per golfer, or $65 without a cart, which includes greens fees, prizes, food and refreshments. Mail applications and fees to George Burns at 41 Barber Street, Exeter.

Mark Casper HOOPS4ME Camp, a fun, educational course on the fundamentals of basketball will be held the Wyoming Area Catholic gym, Wyoming Ave, Exeter from Aug. 19-23. Boys grades 3, 4, 5 from 9 a.m. to noon; Boys grades 6, 7, 8 from 1-4 p.m.

Cost is $65 per player or $55 per player with more than one player per family. Along with the teaching of FUNdamentals, there will be some 3-on-3 competitions, some 5-on-5, foul shooting contests, our famous skills obstacle course and more. Full payment must accompany application. Players receive a free t-shirt and prizes will be awarded.

Duryea Little League will have its family night on Friday, Aug. 23 at PNC Park to see a RailRiders game. All boys and girls who were players in our league are free. Parents and siblings are a cost of $8.

GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick will be hosting their annual Black Shamrock Open on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Course. The format of the tournament is Captain and Crew and entry fee is $75 per golfer. The event will kick off with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start.

There will be refreshments at the course, and a buffet meal following the tournament at the golf course. Anyone that would like to register to participate or is interested in more information please contact Jimmy Clancy at 881-4176 or any active member of the G.P. Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. Registration should be completed as soon as possible.

The Tournament committee meets every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus in Pittston.

Last year the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick awarded scholarships to two students totaling $5,000 and the proceeds from this event will benefit the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Scholarship Program.
