It’s Avoca’s loss.

Ann Baclasky, the Avoca borough secretary for the past 21 years, participated in her final meeting Thursday night in the same spirit as she has served in that position: one of grace and service.

Dozens of resident poured into that meeting to present Baclasky with a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses and good wishes.

Baclasky recently retired.

Council member Joseph Satkowski in presenting her with a plaque, lauded her years of dedicated service and organization to the borough.

Council member Tom Goul summed up the feelings of council saying “she will be truly missed.”

“This is a small town and she needed to be good at everything from dealing with residents to communications with pubic officials,” said Tom Fritz.

Baclasky reflected the good sentiments.

“It has been a pleasure working with council members over the past 21 years, they always helped me in any way they could,” she said.

A smiling Baclasky also received an I Love Avoca placard met with applause and laughter from attendees.

It was clear that Avoca has loved her as well.

Council recently hired Claire Kolodzieski as the new borough secretary.
