Cries of “Viva, San Rocco!” and sounds of the Cino Paci band rang through the Oregon Section of Pittston Sunday as parishioners of St. Joseph Marell0 Church and the former St. Rocco’s Church honored the beloved patron St. Rocco on his Feast Day.

Parishioners traveled by automobile from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church following the 11:15 a.m. Sunday Mass and then gathered outside of St. Rocco’s from where the procession through the streets began. As is the custom, the faithful pinned money on a sash fashioned around the shoulders of the statue of St. Rocco.

The custom is more than 80 years old.
