From left, PA junior high school students Rhiannon Avvisato, Rachel Longo, Lori DeFazio and Laura Brady prepared an Easter Egg Hunt with 1500 eggs filled by students. The students had to submit advertisements to the newspaper and check in the arriving participants. The hunt took place at the Kiesinger Funeral Home.

From left, PA junior high school students Lea Garibaldi, Megan Dougherty, Domonique DelPriore and Marie Terese Fox decided to give back to Marley’s Mission. The students sold candy bars at Redner’s Supermarket and helped serve at Marley’s Mission, an organization providing therapy to children and families who have suffered a traumatizing event.

From left, PA junior high school students Nicole Chaiko, Meredith Yozwiak and Alexa Danko raised awareness of eating disorders by holding the Third Annual I Am Beautiful Charity Field Hockey Game between Wyoming and Pittston Area High Schools. The game raised a total of $1,827.50. All proceeds went to the Ronald McDonald House of Hershey and the National Eating Disorder Association.

PA senior high school student Miranda Warunek hosted Dance for a Cause to raise money for the Pediatric Health Clinic in Pittston. A performance by the Emerald Isle Step Dancers and a basket auction raised over $9,000.

From left, PA High School seniors Shannon Turner, Kristen Fereck, Jillian Starinsky and Michael Chisdock operated the Catherine McAuley Center Collection. The project donated household items to homeless women and their children at the center. They purchased supplies locally and accepted monetary donations to support their cause.

From left, John Keilbasa, Austin Elko, Cory Tobin and Matthew Yatison, PA seniors, conducted a food donation to help needy families. They raised money via Gertrude Hawk candy bars to purchase the food which was donated to the Greater Pittston Food Pantry.

From left, PA seniors Suraj Pursnanni, Calvin O’Boyle, Matthew Shamnoski, Kelly Mitchell, Nick Bolka and Michael Harding planned a Senior Citizens Day at Wesley Village. The group distributed prizes through rounds of Bingo and handed out souvenirs to all.

From left, PA seniors Josh Rugletic, Shelby Rinaldi and Anthony Capozucca held the Stomp out the Warriors, Stomp out Hunger Canned Food Drive. Food collection boxes were set up throughout the Pittston Area School District and students accepted monetary donations for the Care and Concern Food Pantry .

From left, PA junior Trent Woodruff, senior Suraj Pursnanni and junior Tyler Woodruff cleaned the often-overlooked courtyard at the Pittston Area High School. The students planted flowers, mulched and raked the area.

The event included coloring eggs, making crafts, games and activities.

From left, PA seniors Kristen Lombardo, Olivia Lanza, Catherine Lombardo and Jordan Cumbo planned a project entitled Clothes for Kids. Infant clothing collection bins were placed throughout the school district to benefit the Kids Clothes Closet in Pittston.

Pa senior Kristen Santey planned a Mental Retardation Awareness Month Dance in the Pittston Area gymnasium. Students with mental disabilities teamed with others and enjoyed an afternoon of dancing and fun.
