Mr. and Mrs. John J. Hoover of Plains Township, formerly of West Pittston, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 23. The couple was married by the late Rev. Joseph O’Brien at the Immaculate Conception Church in West Pittston, with their wedding reception taking place at Fox Hill Country Club.
Mrs. Hoover is the former Marguerite A. Mantione, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Rosario Mantione of West Pittston. She was the former office manager for Dr. Jane Hazlett. Mr. Hoover is the son of the late Joseph and Mary Hoover of Pittston. He was the former comptroller and acting dean of finance at Misericordia University.
Their marriage was blessed with four children: John Jr. of Duryea and his wife, Karen; Cathy Mericle, of Swoyersville; Steve of Exeter and his wife, Marilyn; and Debbie Wright and her husband Tracy, also of Exeter; and six grandchildren; Amanda and John-Paul Mericle, Nicole and Matthew Wright, Stephanie Fino, and Chuck Fino, and his wife Destyne; and one great-grandchild, Gianna Fino.
A family celebration was held at the Beaumont Inn by their children and their grandchildren to honor the couple on their special occasion.
