Amy Lynn Ruda and Anthony Joseph Balent were united in marriage on Aug. 1 at our Lady of Victory, Harveys Lake, by Father Daniel Toomey.

The bride is the daughter of Ronald and Barbara Ruda, Dallas. She is the granddaughter of Mary Doyle and the late Joseph Doyle and Veronica Ruda and the late Joseph Ruda.

The groom is the son of Michael Balent Sr., Luzerne. He is the grandson of Joseph Balent and the late Marion Balent.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and mother. She chose her sister, Kristen Yingst, as the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Casey Coombs, Betsy Pitcher, Sarah Ridilla, Stephanie Frank, Lisa Lopes and Janelle Heilman.

The groom chose his friend, David Ridilla, as his best man. Groomsmen were Phil Buickus, James Burns, Michael Balent Jr., Ryan Ruda, Kevin Marseco and Matt Traver.

The flower girl was the bride’s grandmother, Mary Doyle, from Harveys Lake, formerly of Pittston. She celebrated her 96th birthday on Aug. 29.

The ring bearers were Mason and Blake Yingst, nephews of the bride.

An evening cocktail hour and reception was held at the Holiday lnn, East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in speech-language pathology from Misericordia University. She is employed by Good Shepherd Rehabilitation, Allentown, as a pediatric speech-language pathologist.

The groom is a 2003 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from Penn State and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Scranton. He is employed as a physical therapist in Quakertown.

The couple honeymooned in Cape Cod and Maine.
