Jennifer Lee Morris and Christopher Anthony Hetro were united in marriage by Fr. James Paisley at St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, on Friday, Aug. 7.

The bride is the daughter of Carol Yurkon and the late Charles Yurkon, Dallas. She is the granddaughter of the late Charles and Jean Yurkon, Exeter, and Marguerite Cartier and the late Robert Cartier, Okeechobee, Florida.

The groom is the son of Mary and Andrew Hetro, Exeter. He is the grandson of Matilda Hetro and the late Andrew Hetro, Exeter, and the late Anthony and Marion Krolick, Wyoming.

The bride was given in marriage by her mother, Carol, and her brother, Chuck Yurkon. Her father was with her in spirit. Longtime and dear friends of the bride, Jennifer Sgarlat and Sarah Ruckno Cleary, shared in the day as bridesmaids and longtime friends of the groom, Matthew Russo and Joseph Bartell, served as groomsmen.

Scriptural readings were given by the godmother of the bride, Mary Ellen Dillon, and godmother of the groom, Anna Roche.

The couple hosted a reception at the Westmoreland Club, Wilkes-Barre, and were excited to welcome friends and family from near and far, including the Penn State Nittany Lion, to share in the day.

Mrs. Hetro is a 2000 graduate of Dallas Senior High School and a 2004 graduate of College Misericordia (now Misericordia University), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing with minors in management and communications. She is currently employed as the director of communications at The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education, Scranton.

Mr. Hetro is a 2001 graduate of Wyoming Area High School. He is also a 2005 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and a 2010 graduate of Lehigh University, where he received a Master of Business Administration. Christopher is a registered professional engineer and currently employed as an electrical engineer at Borton-Lawson, Wilkes-Barre.

The couple was honored with an engagement party in May, hosted by the bridesmaids, and a rehearsal dinner at Cork Bar and Restaurant, Wilkes-Barre, was hosted by the parents of the groom on the evening before the ceremony. The bride was generously gifted her mother’s wedding ring from her parents’ wedding ceremony in 1979.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Hetro honeymooned in St. Lucia and reside in the Back Mountain with their rescue dog, Champ.
