Lt. Col. Frank J. Brogna III

PITTSTON — Lieutenant Colonel Frank Brogna III, of Pittston, will retire from the United States Marine Corps after 28 years in the service.

Brogna’s accomplishments include meritorious promotion to the rank of sergeant, selection as Service Member of the Year in 1993, selection for the meritorious commissioning program during 1996, selection to participate in the college degree program in 2005 and a 2013 graduate of Marine Corps Command and Staff College.

His personal decorations include Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars, Joint Service Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star and Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with bronze star.

A 1987 Pittston Area High School graduate, Brogna will retire in Harrisburg following his current assignment with the 8th Marine Corps District with his wife, Michelle, and daughter, Gabriella.
