PITTSTON — The casting call for applicants for the 2015 Pittston Tomato Festival Queen has begun.

Applications are available at the Pittston City Hall, 35 Broad St. and the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce, William Street and Kennedy Boulevard, online at http://www.pittstontomatofestival.com/queen.htm or by emailing Jamie Andrews at pittstontomatofestivalqueen@gmail.com.

Participants must be between the ages 14 and 19 as proof of age is required, along with a $30 application fee and a recent headshot.

Deadline for entry is Saturday, Aug. 8.

The contest will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 in the Lower Tomato Festival lot. Scoring is based on an interview, stage performance and talent. Talent may include, butis not limited to, a commercial for the festival, song, dance, etc. Each entrant is invited to ride in the Saturday morning parade, but parade participation is not required.

All participants will receive prizes and gifts with the winner will receiving a $500 college scholarship and the first runner-up receiving a $250 college scholarship. Those not attending college may use the scholarship for educational purposes.

The 2015 winner will be also required meet and greet guests at the festival through its conclusion on Sunday, Aug. 23.
