PITTSTON — The NEPA Rainbow Alliance PrideFest was held Saturday, Aug. 15 in downtown Pittston for the first time ever. The event was previously held at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre.
Helen Davis, vice chair of the Board of the NEPA Rainbow Alliance and member of the PrideFest Committee, said the move was because Pittston has a law protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people.
Aside from added protection set in place by Pittston, the NEPA Rainbow Alliance hoped the new location would attract more visitors from Lackawanna County, Davis said.
Rainbow flags are among the many items for sale at PrideFest in Pittston on Saturday afternoon.
