Religious education classes are held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. All children enrolled in public or private schools, as well as home schools, are invited to participate.

All children from the parish are invited to visit with St. Nicholas, the patron saint of children after the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Dec. 6. Each child is asked to bring an unwrapped gift which will be donated to our Parish Giving Tree Project. Forms may be found at the back of the Church and should be returned no later than Dec. 1 by dropping it in the collection basket during Mass, returning it to the child’s Religious Education teacher or by calling the parish office.

The Parish Giving Tree will be placed in the sanctuary for the First Sunday of Advent. This year, Eric Trasciatti, raised in foster care until adopted by Gino and Michele Trasciatti, has undertaken the setup of the Giving Tree. In gratitude for the gift of his adoption, along with that of his two sisters, Eric is looking to provide gifts to those children still in the foster care system. All gifts should be returned to the tree unwrapped no later than the weekend of Dec. 12 and 13.

Adult Choir rehearsals are held each Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the church, unless otherwise noted. All elementary and high school students of the parish are invited to join the Youth Choir, which will once again participate in the 4 p.m. Christmas Eve Liturgy. The choir will present a series of preludes and lead singing during the liturgy. Rehearsals will be held in the church from 6 to 6:45 p.m. on the following days: Monday, Nov. 30, Wednesday, Dec. 9, Wednesday, Dec. 16, and Monday, Dec. 21. Baskets will be placed at the entrances to the church for the November/December Food Drive. Place non perishable food items in the baskets. All food will be donated to the Greater Pittston Area Food Pantry. Carl Boos will see that all these items are delivered.

Letters will soon be mailed to the sponsors of last year’s calendar as well as to those who participated in the 27th Annual Lucky Number Calendar. This is a major fundraiser for the parish. Payments may be made in installments. To participate this year, call the parish office.

In celebration of the Year of Mercy, Dec. 8, 2015 through Nov. 20, 2016, the church will have Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays after the 8 a.m. Mass. Adoration will be held on Dec. 2, 11, and 18.

Join the church at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 for the Parish University Series. Sheri Ratchford, owner of Sheri Pilates Studio in Kingston, holds a master’s degree in Exercise Science and numerous other certifications.

CCD class will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7. If your child can not attend CCD class for any reason, call 570-362-1900 and report them off. In case of school closing or early dismissal due to severe weather, the program will be closed for that night.

The Sacred Heart Welcoming Committee will sponsor its annual Christmas Greens Sale. Items available will be wreath, wooden cross, cemetery cross, log bundle, planter and centerpiece. The sale will end on Sunday, Dec. 6. Greens can be picked up the weekend of Dec. 14 and 15 after Masses in the church hall. Samples and order forms will be in the church lobby. The Care and Concern Free Health Clinic is open every Wednesday and is free of charge. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. in the former Seton Catholic High School and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Patients for The Pediatric Health Clinic are now being seen on the first Thursday and third Thursday of the month at Dr. Imbrogno’s office at 570-855-6035 until further notice. Children’s immunization records are required upon registration. Parents or guardians must be present to have their child examined. All services are free and confidential.
