It was already above freezing — 34 degrees — in downtown Wilkes-Barre by 7 a.m., with a forecast that sounds more like like March or April.

The National Weather Service is calling for a high of 50 degrees and a low of 39 during the day, with a mix of clouds and sun.

For the second day in a row the chance of rain is zero percent

An increase in humidity and clouds is expected near midnight. Fog should roll in for the early hours Tuesday, bringing a growing chance of showers, with about a 50 percent chance of light rain by noon.

But the warm weather should continue through the week, with highs above 40 through Thursday, followed by a slight cooling trend over the weekend — though the high is still expected to stay above freezing during the day.
