WASHINGTON — Perdue Foods LLC is recalling 4,530 pounds of chicken nuggets, citing the product could contain plastic materials.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Services issued the recall Monday.

According to the recall, consumer complaints were received that “small, solid, clear plastic” substances were found in Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets.

The products included in the recall include eight-ounce boxes of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets, containing about 18 pieces, produced Sept. 28, 2015, with a “Best Before Date of Sept. 27, 2016.

The contaminated products have an “establishment number of P-2617, located inside the USDA mark of inspection,” according to the news release.

The chicken nuggets were sent to distribution centers in Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Indiana, Georgia, Florida and Texas.

Consumers are instructed to return the product to the store where it was purchased or throw it away.

No health issues were reported, according to the press release.
