EXETER TWP. — A motor vehicle accident left one dead and one injured Saturday night.

Joe Santora, 78, of Friendsville, Pennsylvania, was killed when the Ford Fusion he was driving southbound on Route 92 in Exeter Township, left the roadway, hit a tree and spun 90 degrees.

Santora was pronounced dead at the scene by Luzerne County Coroner Frank Gubbiotti.

The vehicle’s passenger, Margaret M. Santora, 76, of Friendsville, was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital for “serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” according to the news release.

Margaret Santora was wearing a lap and shoulder seat belt, but Joe Santora was not, the report stated.

The reason for the accident was not included in the police report.
