WEST PITTSTON — Through the West Pittston Library’s summer reading program, children earned the opportunity to dunk the librarians, and their friends, in a “Dunk A Librarian” event held Aug. 12 to conclude the program.

The children read a combined 124,000 minutes throughout the summer to eclipse their goal of 98,000 minutes and be able to dunk all of the librarians.

Three program participants — Elaina Para, 10, Wyoming; Samara Campenni, 11, West Pittston; and Benjamin Parry, 10, Falls — were dunked for being the top readers throughout the program, racking up the most minutes individually.

The library raised $125 through raffle tickets for the “Dunk A Librarian” that will go back into the library.
