HUGHESTOWN — The seventh annual ALS fundraiser to honor the late Jimmy Duffy, sponsored by the PALS (Prevent Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), was held Saturday, Aug. 27.
Friends, family and neighbors gathered in Hughestown for a day in memory of Duffy to raise awareness and to present a donation to the Philadelphia Chapter of ALS. the event included swimming, games and basket raffles.
ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurons generative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
Duffy passed away in 2009 from the disease.
