EXETER — Wyoming Area Catholic School will be celebrating “Catholic Schools Week” beginning Friday, Jan. 27 and concluding Saturday, Feb. 4.

The schedule is as follows:

Friday, Jan. 27 — Ryan Lecky from WNEP-TV/Channel 16 will be live from from 4:30 to 7 a.m. at the school. Different homerooms will wear different uniforms (spirit wear, regular uniforms, and eighth-grade students will wear their basketball uniforms.) There will be a pep rally with Lecky, a prayer service at 9 a.m. and free breakfast for everyone. Dismissal will be at 11 a.m. for students and there will be no After School Care that day.

Sunday, Jan. 29 — An open house will be held from noon to 2 p.m. as families will be able to tour the school and speak with various clubs and organizations. Refreshments will be served and Frankie Warren from Magic 93 FM radio will broadcast live during the event.

Monday, Jan. 30 — Students will wear their regular uniforms and team captains will prepare lessons for Teacher Appreciation Day. Letters of appreciation will be written and sent to local pastors for supporting Catholic education.

There will be a Geography Bee and Spelling Bee in the afternoon for grades four through eight and Celebrity Readers will read to students in pre-kindergarten through third grade from noon to 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 31 — There will be a Health Fair with a variety of stations for the students to visit which will introduce them to the world of science and nutrition. A permission form is needed to be signed and returned for students to participate.

All students will wear their gym uniforms as well.

Wednesday, Feb. 1 — EJ the DJ will be on hand to host a Jeopardy-style Academic Quiz Game. There will be two sessions with pre-kindergarten through third grad participating from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and grade four through eight participating from 9:25 to 10:10 a.m.

There will also be Mass at 1 p.m. as Student Council will prepare and participate in the Mass. Students must wear their Mass uniforms.

Thursday, Feb. 2 — Students will wear blue and white to show their school spirit. Basketball style pants and spirit wear are permitted (no shorts).

The Wacky Olympics will be held in the morning and a Pep Rally and Basketball game, played by the eighth grade students) will be held in the afternoon.

Friday, Feb. 3 — Students may dress in the colors of their favorite Super Bowl team if they donated a can of coup for the local soup kitchen.

Students will present their Teacher Appreciation lessons and projects and a talent show will be held later in the day.

Saturday, Feb. 4 — The Night at the Races will begin with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. and post time being at 7 p.m. This is for adults age 21 or older, only.
