WEST PITTSTON — Former Exeter Hose Co. treasurer Stephanie McNeil pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a retail theft incident earlier this month.

She waved another charge onto county court.

McNeil, 34, appeared before District Judge Joseph Carmody for a preliminary hearing Wednesday. Per an agreement with an arresting officer, Carmody accepted a guilty plea for McNeil on a misdemeanor theft by deception charge.

Carmody sentenced her to 6 months probation consecutive to any other sentences she may already be facing.

McNeil waived a separate felony charge of retail theft to county court.

McNeil’s charges stem from two separate incidents earlier this month. Those charges, according to prosecutors, violate McNeil’s bail on charges related to her alleged theft of over $67,000 from the Exeter Hose Co. over a six-year period.

After a bail revocation hearing on Feb. 16, Luzerne County Judge David Lupas ruled that McNeil would remain behind bars for violating her bail terms.

In November 2014, she was voted out of office from the fire company.
