WILKES-BARRE — The Times Leader website has a new look.

The redesigned, comprehensive site — launched Thursday evening — provides readers easy access to our sister papers at the Dallas Post, Abington Journal, Sunday Dispatch and Weekender, as well as at the Times Leader. The new site offers an easy-to-navigate layout of the Times Leader’s multimedia, news, sports, business, opinion and features content.

“We wanted to provide our readers with the most modern website, taking advantage of technological upgrades, so the user experience is productive and enjoyable, said Doug Olsson, the Times Leader’s publisher. “It is a more user-friendly site, incorporating more graphics to make for a more pleasant user experience.”

The Times Leader and its four weekly newspapers have grown their online presence over the past several years, said Jeric Foulds, digital and social media editor.

“We receive an average of 112,000 online views per day,” Foulds said, adding that digital readership has increased more than 30 percent over the past three years.

Until now, readers had to visit different websites to obtain all of their news about Northeast Pennsylvania. The new website provides one-stop shopping for all Times Leader products, as the Post, Journal, Sunday Dispatch (Pittston area) and Weekender all have “channels” on www.timesleader.com, Olsson said.

“Now, users can access all our news from one website,” he said. “And you can use the same URLs you’ve always used to access the weeklies’ content.”

The redesigned site highlights featured content on the left with our top stories, as well as a section for news updates throughout the day. In addition, the site offers an upgraded mobile experience for readers who prefer to get their news via phone or tablet. The news is the same across all platforms but is formatted for your browser.

“It is critical that the Times Leader provide best-in-class products, both in print and digital, to ensure our readers have access to all our valuable content in whichever method they choose to read it,” Olsson said. “We care deeply about making information accessible in any format that suits our reader.”
