EXETER — Wyoming Area’s annual Title I parent meeting was held on Jan. 28 at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School. The meeting focused on how parents could help improve their child’s academic success by being involved with their child’s education and communicating with the Title I staff.
Guest speakers were Jennifer Fath, Cara Everett, Jennifer Ross and Shannon Hooper, Title I parents who attended the Pennsylvania State Parent Advisory Council conference last year with their child at the Seven Springs Resort in Champion. They shared their experiences and educational information obtained from the conference on how parents could help improve their child’s academic skills. Their message was to inspire other parents in attendance to consider attending this Title I parent conference which is held every summer.
information regarding the district’s Title I reading program was presented by Rita Mauriello, Title I coordinator. The Title I reading specialists reviewed the programs parent policies with parents from each of the elementary schools, according to program guidelines.
Handouts obtained from the state parent conference and other Title I information were given to those in attendance. Certificates from the State Parent Advisory Council were presented to each parent who attended the meeting.
